Why We Do What We Do
At West Mill Design, we believe the best moments in life happen around the table — birthday candles, late-night homework, spilled milk, and all.
But we’re not just in the furniture business. We’re in the people business.
When we purchased West Mill Design from its original founder, Tom, in 2024, we weren’t just buying a brand — we were stepping into a legacy. Tom built this company with integrity, hard work, and a deep love for the craft. He retired from the industry to pursue other passions, and we're honored to continue what he started.
Today, our mission remains the same: to create heirloom-quality furniture that’s made by hand, made to last, and made to serve.
We treat you the way we’d want someone to treat our own family: with honesty, patience, and care. Whether you’re ordering your dream dining table or asking for a few extra stain samples because you “just can’t find the right shade,” we’re here for it.
Need help moving your old table to the garage? We’ll gladly lend a hand.
Not sure what size or style is best for your space? We’ll walk you through every option.
Something not quite right? We’ll make it right — no questions asked.
We don’t cut corners, we don’t make excuses, and we don’t disappear after the sale. We stand behind our work — and more importantly, we stand with you.
West Mill Design is more than a woodshop.
It’s a promise — that your home deserves better furniture, and better care, than what most of the world has settled for.
And we’re proud to build both.
-Keeton, Hannah, and Roy🐾
It all started with a whittling magazine...
Keeton was 14 years old, wandering through his local library when something about a whittling magazine caught his eye. He checked out the magazine, went home, grabbed a pocket knife, and started carving. That moment sparked something in him — not just a hobby, but a passion that would quietly grow for the next decade.
Eventually, he got his hands on a powered carving tool and was hooked for good. His bedroom floor quickly filled with wood shavings, so he moved into his parents’ garage. Before long, he’d taken over half the garage and even built a wall down the middle to make it official.
Through high school and into college, woodworking was his escape. Keeton enrolled at the University of Kentucky to study mechanical engineering — a practical, "smart" career path — but his heart was still in the shop. He outgrew the garage and renovated part of an old pig barn on his grandparents’ farm just to have more space for projects like cabinets, tables, and whatever else he could dream up.
Still, it wasn’t enough. His junior year, he decided he wasn’t going to wait around for someone else to tell him he was ready. While his classmates were studying for thermodynamics exams, Keeton was sketching out blueprints for his dream workshop in the back row. In June 2021, he broke ground on a 10,000 sq. ft. facility that he had designed himself.
It was chaos — juggling senior-level engineering courses, managing construction crews, and fulfilling furniture orders out of the barn. But somehow, he kept going.
In 2022, he moved into the new shop. In 2023, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with his mechanical engineering degree. And today, West Mill Design Co. has grown into a team of dedicated craftsmen serving families all across the country.
